Panchakarma is not only for detoxifying the body, but also for rejuvenation, the ultimate mind-body healing experience by strengthening the immune system, and restoring balance and well-being. It is one of the most effective Ayurveda treatments for health and healing.
Usually, the body has the innate ability to efficiently process and remove these waste materials. However, due to one’s repeated dietary imprudence, poor exercise patterns, lifestyle, and genetic inclination, the digestive enzymes, metabolic co-factors, and hormones that regulate the body’s internal stability become chaotic.
Thus, this leads to the accumulation and spread of toxins throughout the body resulting in disease. Panchakarma will remove toxins and correct imbalances in the body’s organs and channels of elimination (colon, sweat glands, lungs, bladder, urinary tract, stomach, intestines, etc). Panchakarma purifies the tissues at are very deep level.
In the beginning, the body is prepared for the actual process of elimination. This is done by the following processes, administered for the first 4 -5 days.
This is the main part of the Panchkarma ritual, which may last for 5 – 10 days or more, depending on the treatment prescribed by the doctor.
This post-cleansing period (Paschat means after) is extremely important. It is when the cleansed body is slowly brought back to normal life.
